SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulphate) is commonly found in many commercial bath products. The reason sulphates are used to manufacture not only shampoos, but pretty much anything that lathers is that they are an inexpensive ingredient and they make various products foam, a lot. However, I've read enough about sulphates to convince me that I'd rather not use them in my hair. There are plenty of naturally derived alternatives to SLS that produce close to the same results, if not better.
