Multi Purpose Bath Time Organic Infusions Bath & Body Oil (GREAT for Hair, too!)

Happy Easter, Everyone!

My newest favorite thing is my Bath Time Organic Infusions Bath & Body Oil! I love, love, LOVE the way it looks on the shelf in the bathroom! Even more than that, I adore the way it glides on and scents my skin.  I use whatever is left over on my palms as a quick moisturizer for my hair.

Organically grown flowers infuse 5 organic, cold pressed oils with skin nourishing nutrients.  The bottle comes with an organic cotton “filter” so that you won’t get any bits or pieces of the flowers on your skin.  However, if you’d like to have some of the flowers floating in the bath with you, simply unscrew the cap and pour the infused oil and buds into your bath water.

Here’s a brief demo:

Jojoba

Another great photo from flickr.  The photographer writes:  Simmondsia chinensis; “Jojoba” – Despite its specific name, “Jojoba”, or “Goat Nut” is a shrub native to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of Arizona, California, and Mexico. Jojoba is commercially cultivated for the oil from its nut, which is valuble medicinally, cosmetically, and industrially. Growing wild here in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, located in extreme southeastern California.

And here is a nice close up of the Jojoba nut, also from flickr but by a different photographer.

These are some of the products I use that contain this nourishing, skin loving ingredient:

Phat Head Jojoba Cleansing Milk:  Sulphate free shampoos are great for ALL hair types because the plant derived surfactants (ingredients that create foam & lather) don’t rob the hair of natural oils.

I use Phat Head Sulphate Free Shampoo before I color my hair, but for regular cleansing, I use this cleansing milk.  It’s a unique way to the hair, because it doesn’t foam. It works in the same manner as a facial cleansing milk or cream: It loosens and then surrounds debris which is then easily rinsed away.  Jojoba, one of the active ingredients, closely resembles the natural oil that our skin produces, so you are able to cleanse AND moisturize your hair. This cleansing milk is so gentle and non-drying it can even be used on your face!

Smoove Moves Exfoliating Jojoba ButterSmoove Moves: Exfoliating Jojoba Bath Butter: I use Smoove Moves Foaming Bath Butter on a sisal fiber washcloth on most days. Every few days, I use this  gentle exfoliating bath butter with just my hands.  The crushed jojoba shells provide just the right amount of scrubbing power without the harshness of synthetic exfoliants such as synthetic wax beads. It leaves my skin soft, smooth and ready to soak up my Silk Sheets Body Butter.  It also leaves just a hint of fragrance on my skin, so it’s AWESOME when you want to layer your scents.

Silk Sheets Body Souffle:  This is what I use in the warmer months, every day, after I shower. It’s not as thick as it’s cousin, Silk Sheets Body Butter, but it is just as moisturizing.  It contains a wealth of nut butters and vegetable oils and not one drop of water (which evaporates soon after it’s applied… kind of defeats the purpose of moisturizing in the first place, right?).  One of the vegetable oils is jojoba, again because it closely resembles our skin’s natural oil.

Phat Head Daily Jojoba Moisturizing Mist: Before going to sleep, I gather my hair up on the top of my head, using a satin covered scrunchee to reduce tangles and cuts down on breakage.  I mist this on my hair right after I shower:  The jojoba oil helps seal in the moisture from the steam in the air and forms a light shield over each curl, preventing frizz and adding shine and vibrancy. It contains a wealth of nourishing ingredients that sink in to the hair without any sticky, oily or greasy buildup.  I also keep a small bottle in my purse to combat “hat head”.  To ensure that each hair gets a light coating, I mist with one hand and use the other to gently lift my hair as I’m spraying.

My husband and son insist on pronouncing jojoba as “JOE-JOE-BAH”. The correct pronunciation is “HO-HO-BA”. They BOTH know this… they just do it to tease me.  Silly guys!
